Education and Cultural Attaché (Atdikbud) at the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia (KBRI) in Canberra plays a strategic role as the forefront of Indonesia’s educational and cultural diplomacy in Australia and Vanuatu.
Atdikbud implements various programs that strengthen bilateral relations in the fields of education, Indonesian language, research, science, technology, and culture. The office also serves as an active partner in enhancing academic networks, advancing the internationalization of the Indonesian language, promoting Indonesian culture, and supporting Indonesian students and scholars abroad.

Our Main Duties
Enhancing the quality and quantity of educational cooperation
Promoting partnerships between Indonesian and Australian institutions, including student and faculty exchanges, double degree programs, and curriculum and learning development.
Strengthening engagement with Indonesian students, learners, and communities
Guiding and assisting Indonesian students in Australia and Vanuatu through programs that foster national identity, leadership development, and diaspora networks.
Advancing education and promoting Indonesian culture
Through various cultural diplomacy initiatives such as art festivals, cultural performances, exhibitions, and the management of the Indonesian Cultural House (Rumah Budaya Indonesia/RBI).
Strengthening the internationalization of the Indonesian language
Expanding Indonesian Language for Foreign Speakers (BIPA) programs in schools and universities in Australia, as well as improving the quality of Indonesian language teaching.
Expanding cooperation in research and science & technology development
Facilitating collaborative research between Indonesian and Australian scholars and supporting scholarship and research grant programs.
